PEI주 (Prince Edward Island)

"캐나다"라는 나라를 세우기 위해 캐나다 연방 설립에 대해 토의를 한 곳으로도 유명한 프린스 에드워드 아일랜드는 캐나다에서 제일 작은 주(Province)에 속한합니다. 빨간머리 앤과 캐나다의 발상지로 유명한 샬럿타운이 있는 프린스 에드워드 아일랜드는 아름다운 바다와 해변, 신선한 해산물, 아웃도어 액티비티 등으로 매년 많은 관광객들이 찾는 멋진 곳 입니다.

샬럿타운(Charlottetown)

프린스 에드워드 아일랜드의 주도인 샬럿타운은 힐스버러 만에 면한 항만 도시입니다. 1793년 영국인에 의해 건설되었으며, 당시 영국의 국왕이었던 조지 3세의 왕비 이름을 따라 명명 되었습니다. 1864년 캐나다 건국에 대한 토의와 결의를 한 도시이기도 합니다. 

또한 루시 모드 몽고메리 작가가 프린스 에드워드 아일랜드의 시골인 에이번리를 배경으로 쓴 소설 "빨간머리 앤"에 등장하는 도시입니다. 빨간머리 앤의 집과 동네, 뮤지컬을 보기위해 매년 많은 관광객들이 방문하고 있습니다.
